Sol Terrace

At Sol Terrace, each meal is thoughtfully designed to nourish and restore. Our menu follows an anti-inflammatory approach and is entirely gluten-free, dairy-free, and free of refined sugars, using fresh, whole ingredients to support overall wellbeing.

Our cuisine is predominantly plant-forward, with daily chef’s choice menus that evolve with seasonal ingredients. Dinner includes a protein option such as chicken, fish, or steak, while additional protein may be added to lunch at an extra cost.

All meals at Sol Terrace are included in full packages and meal-inclusive stays, with breakfast served here for guests on breakfast-only plans. As our primary dining venue, Sol Terrace is the restaurant included in your stay, while dining at Mystique Rooftop Fine Dining and La Diosa Poolside Lounge is available separately.

With sweeping rooftop views, candlelit tables, and curated music, the ambiance is intimate and immersive, designed to slow time and heighten the senses. Guided by Pablo’s vision, every dish tells a story through unexpected combinations, layered textures, and vibrant local ingredients. With limited seating and reservation-only access, Mystique offers a rare and unforgettable journey into the soul of Costa Rican cuisine.

 

 

La Diosa Sunset Lounge and Bar

Perched beside our pool, La Diosa is a sun-drenched, open-air lounge blending relaxed sophistication with the vibrant spirit of Costa Rica. The menu features fresh, coastal flavors and playful takes on local favorites like ceviche and chicharrón empanadas.

Now serving breakfast, La Diosa offers traditional Costa Rican dishes and vibrant morning fare in a relaxed poolside setting.

From leisurely lunches to sunset cocktails, La Diosa is an easygoing yet elevated space where indulgence meets wellness.

Sergio López has been an integral part of The Retreat Costa Rica since the very beginning, bringing his creativity and passion for wellness-driven cuisine across our dining experiences, from Sol Terrace to Mystique and La Diosa.

Loved by guests and known for his warm presence, Sergio transforms clean, nourishing ingredients into vibrant, memorable dishes.

For many, he is a defining part of The Retreat experience.

 

Jonathan Castillo

Sommelier

A true guest favorite, Jonathan brings energy, creativity, and a bright smile to every experience at The Retreat. As our sommelier, he thoughtfully curates our wine list, including a selection of local organic wines, while crafting cocktails and mocktails inspired by Costa Rica’s vibrant flavors.

He also leads our popular mixology and infusions classes, sharing his passion in a way that’s both engaging and fun. Whether recommending the perfect pairing or creating something new, Jonathan makes every sip a memorable part of the experience.
